Another new innovation has popped up in the congressional special election in Ohio's 2nd District. John Glenn, the former astronaut and U.S. Senator, sent his endorsement of fellow Democrat Paul Hackett to an blog.
In this tightly-contested special election, the Hackett campaign is relying on an all-volunteer get-out-the-vote operation to pull this extraordinary American through to victory. ... Please act right now. America needs Paul Hackett and Paul Hackett needs you.
Note that the Ohio2 blog isn't run by the Hackett campaign - but rather is an independent progressive blog about the 2nd congressional district.
This comes on the heels of elected officials announcing policy decisions on blogs (rather than to the news media) - like Portland City Commissioner Randy Leonard's announcement of his positions on the Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Portland Development Commission at the blog BlueOregon.com.
